Nottingham Forest vs Bournemouth: Match Preview

21 May 2026, 15:23 Match: 2026-05-24 15:00 UTC Daniel Clark
Quick Summary

Nottingham Forest host Bournemouth on the final day of the 2025/26 Premier League. Bournemouth chase Champions League spots in sixth while Forest sit 16th and aim to end the season strongly at home despite injuries.

Nottingham Forest take on Bournemouth on the final day of the 2025/2026 Premier League season and it should be a lively affair at the City Ground. Forest sit 16th with 43 points after 37 games while Bournemouth are up in sixth on 56 points and still chasing a Champions League spot. The visitors have picked up seven points from their last three outings including that hard fought draw against Man City.

Forest have been in decent nick themselves lately with three wins in their previous five matches. They hammered Burnley 4-1 on 24 April then ran Sunderland 5-0 on 30 April before beating Chelsea 3-1. A draw with Newcastle and a narrow loss to Man Utd followed but they have shown they can score freely at home. Morgan Gibbs-White remains their main threat after topping the scoring charts with 14 to 17 goals this season.

Bournemouth carry momentum into this one despite a couple of suspensions. Ryan Christie and Alex Jimenez both miss out which forces changes at the back and in midfield. Lewis Cook and Julio Soler are questionable with thigh issues so the squad is stretched. Still their recent results suggest they have enough quality to trouble most sides.

Forest also have injury worries of their own. Callum Hudson-Odoi Willy Boly Nicola Savona and John Victor are all ruled out while several others including Ola Aina Murillo and Morgan Gibbs-White are listed as doubtful. That leaves the home side with limited options in key areas according to reports from NBC Sports and FotMob.

Both teams have played 37 matches already so this is all about pride and for Bournemouth a possible European reward. Forest are safely mid table and can play without pressure which might suit them. Expect a few goals given the attacking intent Forest have shown lately and the fact Bournemouth need to keep winning to stay in the top five hunt.

Bournemouth should have the edge on paper but they cannot afford to be complacent with Forest capable of springing a surprise at home. The points mean more to the visitors though and that extra motivation could prove decisive in what is likely to be an open contest.

Over 2.5 goals @1.85 — Forest have scored freely in four of their last five games including big wins against Sunderland and Chelsea while Bournemouth games tend to be open.

Morgan Gibbs-White anytime goal @2.60 — He is Forest top scorer with 14-17 goals this season and remains a threat even with some fitness doubts.
