Quick Summary

England are favorites to beat Norway in their World Cup quarter-final clash. Despite Haaland's seven goals and Norway's run to the last eight, England's depth should prevail in an open game.

England head into this World Cup quarter-final against Norway as the side everyone expects to progress. Their squad depth stands out even with a few issues at the back.

Norway have stunned plenty to get here. They sit as runners-up from Group I and knocked out Brazil in the round of 16. That run includes four wins in their last five matches, with a 2-1 victory over Brazil just six days ago and another 2-1 result against Ivory Coast.

Erling Haaland leads the way for them. The striker has seven goals already across four World Cup games and netted twice in that win over Brazil. He sits co-leading the Golden Boot race and looks sharp.

England come in with strong recent results too. They won four of their last five, beating Mexico 3-2, Congo DR 2-1 and Panama 2-0 before that goalless draw with Ghana. Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham have been the main threats in the knockout stages.

But injuries and a suspension could test them. Jarell Quansah misses out after his red card against Mexico. Jordan Henderson is ruled out with a wrist problem and Reece James remains a major doubt with his hamstring. Four players including Declan Rice and Bellingham carry yellow cards that would sideline them for a semi-final.

This clash in Miami marks Norway's first-ever World Cup quarter-final. They eliminated Brazil after the group stage and carry real momentum. England still look the stronger outfit overall with more options across the pitch.

Goals have flowed in both teams' recent games. Norway's matches often turn open while England have found the net regularly too. Haaland's form suggests he will create problems even against a favored defense.

England should have enough to reach the semi-finals but Norway will not make it easy. Their counter threat and set-piece danger could cause moments of worry.
